Texas A&M vs. Alabama: Johnny Manziel Just Won the Heisman Trophy

11 Nov

With all due respect to Collin Klein, Manti Te’o and Braxton Miller, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel just won the Heisman Trophy.

All the Alabama Crimson Tide—along with the rest of the country—could do was sit back, watch and appreciate the brilliance of the talented quarterback.

The Aggies knocked off the Crimson Tide on Saturday night in dramatic fashion, coming away with a 29-24 victory.

While this was not a coming-out party for the freshman quarterback, it was his best performance of the season under the circumstances, and it vaulted him to the top of the Heisman race.

Manziel finished the game 24-of-31 for 253 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 18 times for 92 yards.

He spent most of the day eluding the Alabama pass rush and keeping plays alive with his feet. Very few quarterbacks could have done what he did on this late Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.

The most dramatic of all the plays came midway through the fourth quarter when he scrambled and hit Malcome Kennedy with a 24-yard touchdown to put the Aggies up 29-17.

There was talk leading up to the game that Manziel had not done much against upper-echelon competition, but he certainly proved himself on the road in a very tough environment.
